About The Role
We are currently seeking a Technician in Hair and Beauty to join our Hair and Beauty department at The Bedford College Group. As a Technician, you play an important role in the success of our students through:
* Technical & Salon Support – Assist lecturers and trainers in salon areas, maintain facilities, and ensure equipment is secure, functional, and compliant with Health & Safety standards.
* Stock & Equipment Management – Implement systems for tracking and securing stock, maintain inventory levels, process orders, and monitor budget spend against departmental allocations.
* Health, Safety & Compliance – Conduct risk and COSHH assessments, maintain salon safety via Smartlog, and ensure all operations meet current safety regulations.
* Learner & Client Support – Provide guidance to students, respond to First Aid needs, manage reception duties, and uphold discipline and safeguarding policies.
* Statutory Responsibilities – Promote safeguarding, equality, and diversity, adhere to Health & Safety policies, and actively engage in ongoing training and professional development.
About You
* Industry Knowledge & Experience – Experience in the hair and beauty industry with up-to-date knowledge of current treatments and practices.
* Skills & Competence – Ability to maintain, test, and repair equipment; organise stock inventories; and consistently deliver high job performance in a supportive learning environment.
* Communication & Teamwork – Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively, respecting team dynamics and diversity.
* Compliance & Safeguarding – Understanding of Health & Safety, COSHH, and safeguarding responsibilities, with a commitment to promoting equality and maintaining professional boundaries.
* Flexibility & Reliability – Willingness to work evenings and across multiple locations, with a proactive approach to training, punctuality, and adapting to operational needs.
