New Opportunity - Mechanical Project Engineer
We are seeking a motivated Mechanical Project Engineer to join our client's expanding engineering team. You will be responsible for concept and detailed design across a wide range of energy sector projects, including renewables, hydrogen, fossil fuels, carbon capture, and Waste-to-X.
This role requires experience in thermodynamic and structural design, mechanical engineering principles, and an appreciation of acoustic engineering. You will work independently and collaboratively across all project phases, from concept through to delivery and commissioning, ensuring solutions are innovative, practical, and compliant with international standards.
As the new Mechanical Project Engineer, you will:
Support concept and detailed design activities for energy sector projects
Perform engineering calculations in structural, thermo-fluid, and general mechanical disciplines using both software and first-principles methods
Prepare concept design sketches, technical reports, and manufacturing documentation
Review and interpret client requirements, drawings, and specifications
Contribute to R&D and continuous improvement initiatives within the engineering team
Support internal teams in project management, quality, and supply chain as required
Participate in business development activities, including client meetings in the UK and overseas
Ensure all designs meet customer requirements, budget, and deadlines
Key Requirements for this role:
Engineering qualification (HND or equivalent; degree preferred)
Experience in a mechanical design role, with exposure to structural analysis and first-principles calculations
Knowledge of fabricated structures, components, and manufacturing techniques
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams
Willingness to travel internationally and work out of hours when required
Full UK driving licence and current UK residency
Desirable Skills and Experience
Experience using Autodesk Robot or similar structural analysis software
Pressure vessel design and experience with relevant codes/standards
Design of air handling, filtration systems, or heat exchangers
Thermo-fluid analysis and acoustic calculations
Knowledge of ATEX, IEC, or other hazardous area directives
Familiarity with CDM regulations and piping/instrumentation diagrams
