Overview
This is a unique and rewarding opportunity to join the Kent, Surrey, and Sussex regional Women’s Team and play a key role in shaping the future of our work with women in the criminal justice system. As a regional post, travel across the region will be required as needed. The successful candidate will report directly to the Regional Strategic Lead for Women and will lead the implementation of the regional Female Offender Strategy, driving forward meaningful change and supporting improved outcomes for women.
Responsibilities
* Drive improved outcomes for women across sentencing, sentence progression, and access to opportunities in both custody and the community.
* Collaborate with PDU Heads, Deputies, and Senior Probation Officer (SPO) leads to embed a women-centred approach across operational delivery.
* Chair monthly meetings with SPO Women’s Leads across the region to support the implementation of the Female strategy.
* Monitor performance data and lead initiatives to improve outcomes for women on probation.
* Contribute to the delivery of national objectives outlined in the HMPPS Women’s Strategy Business Plan.
* Lead on learning and development for women’s teams and practitioners across the Kent, Surrey, and Sussex region.
* Represent the region at HMPPS National Women’s Meetings, sharing insights and contributing to strategic discussions.
* Engage with local partnership meetings, ensuring the voice and needs of women are reflected in multi-agency work.
* Advocate for women’s needs within wider partnership forums, including Community Safety Partnerships and Local Criminal Justice Boards (LCJB).
* Act as the regional subject matter expert, providing guidance and support to staff on issues affecting women on probation.
* Lead or contribute to project management work as required, supporting innovation and service improvement.
* Work closely with the Commissioning Team to identify commercial needs and support the evaluation of bids related to women’s services.
