Offer description

Ould you be our new Coach Driver OR Trainee Coach Driver?

We’re looking for a proactive, organised and reliable Coach Driver to join our enthusiastic team delivering an excellent experience to our students at our Outdoor centres. You’ll either be a qualified Coach Driver already, OR we’re also excited to be able to offer the opportunity to join us as a Trainee Coach Driver and complete your qualification. The role coincides with the exciting opening of our newest Outdoor Education Centre!

The coach can be based in either Wakefield - West Yorkshire, or Brigg - North Lincolnshire, so if you’re in a commutable distance of either location, this could be the role for you.

If you join us as a Trainee…

To drive a coach in the UK, you must hold a full Category D PCV (Passenger Carrying Vehicle), be over the age of 18, pass a medical assessment and obtain a Driver CPC qualification.

We’ll support you to achieve your Category D PCV license to become qualified as a Coach Driver. The training process involves applying for your provisional licence, passing theory and practical tests, as well as completing 35 hours of periodic training every 5 years. The Trust, as well as our Transport Manager (who is a qualified Coach Driver) will support you to complete each step, as well as financially covering the cost of training.

As a Trainee, you’d join us on a salary of NJC spot point 9 (£27,254 Full Time Equivalent), which will then increase to the qualified level upon successful completion of your training qualification

Your New Role

As our new Coach Driver, you will play an important role in safely and comfortably transporting our students who will be under the supervision of academy staff, between our academies and our Outdoor Education Centres at Dallowgill in North Yorkshire and Patterdale in the Lake District as well as providing transport for other trips within the UK as necessary.

At Delta Academies Trust, we believe in the power of outdoor education, and in this role you’ll be proudly championing our aim of enabling our students to take part in experiences they may otherwise not be able to engage with, helping them to create amazing memories and raising their aspirations!

You’ll take the wheel of our Trust-branded coach, as you transport students to their destinations, including through scenic rural routes. Whilst you’ll be supported by our Transport Manager, as well as working alongside our Outdoor Centre Managers, we’re also looking for you to be able to effectively manage day-to-day issues using your own initiative. You’ll be a trustworthy, flexible team player who’s genuinely excited to join a small, enthusiastic and dedicated team bringing out students’ outdoor education experiences to life.

Whilst the majority of trips take place between Monday to Friday, there may be some weekend work required.

As part of the interview process, there will be an informal driving assessment.

Please see the attached on our website for the essential criteria and more information about the role.

If you feel you have the necessary skills and experience required for this position, then we would very much like to hear from you! If you have any questions or would like some further details, please contact recruitment@deltatrust.org.uk to arrange a conversation.
