Offer description

At Bath & North East Somerset Council, we have one overriding purpose – to improve people’s lives.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Occupational Therapist to join our Disabled Children’s Team on a full-time basis.

This rewarding role will see you working within a small Occupational Therapy team providing advice and support for children, young people, and families in the Bath and North East Somerset area. We work closely with our colleagues across the service and have established partnerships with agencies across health, education, support services, and adult services to ensure we can respond as effectively as possible to the needs of children and young people. We work with children with complex needs between the ages of 0-18 predominantly at home, supporting disabled children and their families to live safely and independently in their own home.

Our team is based at Civic Centre in Keynsham, within the Children and Young People Service, and we are looking for an enthusiastic worker to join our team. You will experience a culture of mutual support amongst team members and receive formal supervision on a regular basis and appropriate training.

The role will involve the following:

* Assessing children and young people’s needs under the Children and Families Act.
* Assessing and making minor and major adaptation requests to enable access to essential facilities and to ensure a safe home environment.
* Providing equipment and moving and handling advice and support.

About You:

You will need to be committed to using a wide range of skills to promote and safeguard the welfare and development of children and assist their carers in creative and innovative ways to ensure timely care and support planning and intervention.

You will be a qualified Occupational Therapist with current HCPC registration.

If you are interested in this post and require more details or just to chat through the role and what’s involved, please contact Kristy Tyack, Disabled Children's Team Manager on 01225 396989 or email Kristy_Tyack@bathnes.gov.uk.

Interview date: TBC
