Overview
This Locum Consultant (fixed term) role provides clinical support to the Burns and Skin service based at Queen Victoria Hospital (QVH). The successful candidate will have experience of, and an interest in, Burns and plastics skin. The post holder will be based at QVH in East Grinstead and will provide plastics support to the Dermatology services based at Brighton General Hospital. Clinics and theatre sessions are provided at QVH. The post holder will contribute to management, teaching, audit and research activities within the department. It is essential to have broad knowledge and expertise in general plastic surgery with a specialist interest in Burns and Skin. The post is rated GOOD overall with outstanding care by the CQC and forms part of a specialist NHS hospital providing reconstructive surgery, burns care and rehabilitation services across the South of England and beyond.
Due to service configuration, the post holder will deliver direct clinical care predominantly focused on the Burns and Skin services and will support the Dermatology services at Brighton General Hospital. The role may involve working across network sites and engaging with video-led virtual consultations where appropriate.
Responsibilities
* Provide Locum Consultant (fixed term) clinical care to the Burns and Skin services at QVH, including direct patient care, management, teaching, audit and research activities.
* Offer plastics and burns expertise with a broad knowledge in general plastic surgery, supporting Dermatology services at Brighton General Hospital as required.
* Participate in clinics and theatre sessions at QVH and contribute to the multidisciplinary team across sites.
* Engage in service development, education and quality improvement initiatives within the department.
Qualifications
* Experience of Burns and plastics skin with a specialist interest in Burns and Skin.
* Broad knowledge and expertise in general plastic surgery.
* Ability to contribute to management, teaching, audit and research activities.
