Position: Quality Inspector
Salary: £15 – £18 per hour
Hours: Mon – Thurs (08:00 – 18:00)
Location: Kings Lynn
Our client, a well-established Engineering business based in Kings Lynn, is looking to recruit a Quality Inspector to join their team on a permanent basis.
This role offers the opportunity to join aestablishedteam where you will play an important role in producing quality, by ensuring that the opportunity for non-conforming parts reaching the customer is minimised. This is achieved by assisting the Machinists in measuring the parts that they produce and explaining the extent of any deviation outside drawing specification. Bridging the gap between what the customer expects and what the company manufactures.
Working in markets such as scientific instruments, automotive, aerospace, defence, our client is a subcontract manufacturer of high precision metal and plastic components which are used in high end applications.
Key responsibilites
Reporting to the Production Manager, you’ll be responsible for:
1. Help interpreting customer engineering drawings to provide guidance regarding any areas that might be challenging to achieve without the risk of scrap. (Customer requirement versus machine capability).
2. Routinely, conducting First Off, Mid Batch and Final Inspection. Defining an inspection regime based on the level of difficulty in manufacturing specific parts.
3. Producing inspection reports where required by the customer, such as First Article Inspection Reports (using Aberlink and 1Factory software).
4. Undertake routine calibration of the hand measuring instruments and ensure this is reported in 1Factory.
5. Writing CMM programmes using Aberlink software such as the CAD comparison module (which largely automates the process).
6. Writing CMM programmes manually where CAD data does not exist (rare).
7. Being responsible for the programming and use of the Aberlink Axiom Too contact CNC CMM, the Bowers Baty Venture 3030 contact / non contact CMM and the Starett VB300 optical measuring system
We’re looking for a Quality Inspector who has the following:
8. Preferably an ex-Machinist with good knowledge of CNC turning and milling operations.
9. Several years of experience as a Quality Inspector of complex highly tolerance mechanical components.
10. Knowledge of the ISO9001-2015 quality management system (which must be adhered to).
11. Strong working knowledge of Engineering Drawings / Tolerancing and Specifications.
12. Good spatial awareness.
13. Highly numerate and analytical.
