Application Support Analyst - Glasgow
Head Resourcing is delighted to be partnering with one of Scotland’s leading mutual financial services organisations as they look to recruit an experienced Application Support Analyst to join their Glasgow-based technology team.
This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a collaborative IT function that plays a central role in supporting both internal operations and customer facing services. Reporting to the IT Application Support Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for delivering first-line support for a range of critical business applications.
Key Responsibilities:
* Act as the initial point of contact for application support queries, investigating and resolving day-to-day technical issues.
* Perform basic analysis using SQL to help identify root causes of application problems.
* Handle regular operational tasks including the execution of SSIS packages and monitoring automated workflows.
* Collaborate closely with stakeholders across different departments to ensure issues are resolved effectively and promptly.
* Escalate complex or unresolved problems to the second-line support team, ensuring all relevant triage information is captured.
* Work alongside developers and IT specialists to enhance support efficiency.
* Provide consistent reporting on support requests and their outcomes.
Key Skills & Experience:
* Previous experience in an IT Application Support or similar technical support role.
* Strong understanding of SQL, ideally with hands-on experience using Oracle or Microsoft environments.
* Familiarity with tools such as SQL Server Management Studio, SQL Agent, and SSIS, particularly in the context of troubleshooting.
* Proactive approach to problem-solving, with the ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
* Eagerness to develop new skills and take on challenges outside of your immediate experience.
* Knowledge of life and pension products is advantageous.
* Exposure to, or understanding of, Sonata Financial Systems is desirable (though not essential).
Ways of working:
* Hybrid 2 days per week onsite in Glasgow
