Job Description:
The Pitt Rivers Museum, South Parks Road, Oxford OX1 3PP, is seeking to appoint a 2-year Research Fellowship in Biocultural Heritage, in partnership with the School of Geography and the Environment. The role aims to foster collaboration across disciplines and unlock the potential of museum collections.
About the role: The Fellowship builds on the success of the University’s OCHRE grouping, which has attracted RICHeS funding from the AHRC to support research infrastructure for biocultural and archaeological work. This is an innovative and rewarding role within a research-active museum with exceptional collections. The Research Fellow will conduct and publish independent research in biocultural heritage, with access to collections, displays, and specialist equipment across the University as part of the OCHRE partnership. The position is fixed-term for 2 years, full-time (37.5 hours/week).
About You: Candidates should hold a doctoral degree in geography or a related discipline, with relevant research experience. A track record of research publications and success in funding applications, or experience as PI or Co-I on successful projects, is essential. Museum-based research experience is a plus. Please refer to the full job description for detailed selection criteria.
What We Offer: Working at the University of Oxford provides benefits such as a generous pension scheme, annual leave, options to buy additional leave, family-friendly benefits, and access to the University Club gym. The University also supports the Charter & Concordat commitments.
