Our Client, A Large Public Sector Organisation based in Ballycastle require an Information Governance Officer to join their team.
Location : Ballycastle
Hours of work : 37 hrs per week
Hourly Rate : 1-12 weeks £ 13 weeks + £
Main Duties :
1. Ensure that the department complies with all statutory and legislative requirements by adhering to these requirements and working in accordance with good governance and health and safety requirements.
2. Ensure that all responsibilities are carried out in a timely and effective manner and that general confidentiality is maintained in all areas relating to the work of the Council.
3. Working as part of a small Information Governance team, the postholder will support the DPO/Information Governance Manager in the development and implementation of an Information Management Strategy and Framework for the Council which ensures Council compliance with a range of access to information legislation such as the Freedom of Information Act 2000, the Data Protection Act 2018 (to be read in conjunction with the UK General Data Protection Regulation), and the Environmental Information Regulations 2004. This will also include compliance with other related legislative requirements, such as the Regulatory Investigatory Powers Act 2000 and the Re-use of Public Sector Information Regulations.
4. Assist with the development and implementation of the Corporate Records Management Strategy and Framework, with associated policies, procedures and systems, ensuring that it supports the priorities and statutory obligations of the Council.
5. Provide operational support to the DPO/Information Governance Manager in relation to the requirements of data protection legislation.
6. The postholder will be assigned to work closely with staff in one of the Council's Directorates through a business partner model. The postholder will be required to be flexible in terms of the Directorates they support, ensuring Business continuity to help facilitate the efficient processing of requests for access to information and data protection issues.
7. The Information Governance Officer will play a key role in supporting and coaching managers to embed an information risk culture and will develop and maintain key working relationships with managers in order to proactively support response to requests for information.

Essential Criteria :
8. A degree or equivalent level qualification in a relevant discipline, eg Public Policy, Information Governance, Legal, Business, etc.
AND
9. Be able to demonstrate, by providing personal and specific examples, at least two years' experience in the following:
10. Assisting in the development and implementing information strategies, policies and management procedures.
11. Research and data analysis.
12. Handling access to information requests under the data protection, FOI and EIR legislative regimes.
13. Development and implementation of records management processes and procedures.
14. Managing projects.
OR
15. Alternatively, consideration will be given to candidates who do not possess the required educational qualification but who can demonstrate, by providing personal and specific examples, that they have at least four years' experience working in an office environment in the areas outlined at 2 (a) - (e) above.
PLUS
16. Experience in the use of Microsoft Office applications to include: Word, Excel and Outlook.
17. A full current driving licence (Category B, valid in the UK) and access to a vehicle that will enable the post holder to meet the requirements of the post OR have access to a form of transport that enables you to carry out the duties of the post.
