Pastoral Support Worker - Shaftesbury School at Dorset Council UK
Salary: Grade 8, Point 12-20: £22,094 - £25,183 per annum (subject to experience)
Contract: Permanent, 32.5 hours a week, 39 weeks a year (term time plus inset days)
We are seeking a compassionate and proactive Pastoral Support Worker to join our team. This is a fantastic opportunity to support the wellbeing, inclusion, and personal development of students. Working closely with Heads of Year, the Senior Leadership Team, and teaching staff, you will help students thrive both personally and academically, promoting positive behaviour, resilience, and a sense of belonging.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide welfare and pastoral support for students
* Work closely with staff, parents, and external agencies to meet students’ needs
* Support induction for new students, helping them settle into school life
* Monitor student behaviour and wellbeing, putting in place effective interventions
* Act as a learning mentor for key students, providing encouragement and guidance
* Handle investigations into school incidents and support restorative approaches
* Encourage and reward positive behaviour through effective systems
* Play an active role in safeguarding, supporting the administration of records and processes
We are looking for someone with high expectations, who is able to motivate and organise. We are looking for someone who will go the extra mile and can make substantial and sustained contribution to the school team and beyond. The school has an Alternative Provision on site for students who struggle with the mainstream lesson setting and these are fully staffed.
