This is an excellent opportunity for junior doctors to be part of this award winning Trust national training programme for junior doctors to a join a busy dynamic multidisciplinary team to help the division improve the service that we provide for our population.
The aim of the role is to give candidates experience and exposure to various surgical specialties with a view to build their experience as a junior doctor at the level of FY2/Core Trainees.
The programme gives a professional portfolio platform alone with dedicated Education and Clinical Supervisors. The Academy of Surgery is a well known regionally and has won the national Health Service Journal Award for organisation and people development in 2021.
Applicants must have MRCS and full GMC Registration. The department shall arrange for oversight and a period of shadowing for any international medical graduate in line with best practice under GMC guidance.
You would have good communication skills, have an understanding of audits and projects and have knowledge of research principles.
Main duties of the job
* Maintain the provision of emergency care as part of the surgical team and provide comprehensive management.
* Provide a high quality, responsive service to Barking Havering & Redbridge Hospitals NHS Trust that assumes responsibility for the patients within the catchment area in co‑operation with consultant colleagues in the Surgery Division and other clinical departments.
* Acknowledge continuing clinical responsibility for any patient admitted under consultant care out of hours in accordance with the terms and conditions of service for the Hospital, Medical and Dental Staff.
* Discharge teaching, examination and accreditation duties as required, and contribute to postgraduate and continuing education for medical, nursing, technical staff, GPs, and other allied professions.
* Deputise in the absence of departmental colleagues in cases of annual leave and (where practicable) short‑term sickness.
* Contribute (in cooperation with the Audit Committee) on a regular basis to the clinical audit process undertaken within the Trust, and where appropriate at a broader regional level.
