The Post:
As a major Strategic Business Unit within NHS National Services Scotland, the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service (SNBTS) plays a vital role not only in the health of the people of Scotland but also on an international scale – through our leading position in new product development, biomedical research and donor services. Our goal is to maintain the highest standards of patient care whilst remaining internationally competitive.
The role of the department is to provide clinical apheresis, i.e. therapeutic plasma exchange, stem cell collection and photopheresis to the patients of Scotland both within the unit and where appropriate, as a peripatetic inpatient service.
Clinical apheresis is an important element of care for patients with a number of haematological, neurological and other types of condition. Procedures can be lifesaving in some situations and in other situations can significantly improve the patient quality of life
The Candidate:
Applicants will be operational accountability and responsibility for the service/elements of service delivery. Working to deliver national objectives the post holder contributes to the national decision process relating to all aspects of specific services or programmes.
Develop clinical expertise innovation and professional / clinical leadership applying expert knowledge and skills appropriate to own area of practice and the wider service.
Act as a champion and role model for values-based care and professionalism.
Lead service delivery within the context of the current professional and legal frameworks while remaining accountable for own professional practice.
Contribute to the development and delivery of the business plans for a service area to ensure they are aligned with the priorities of NSS/NHS Scotland.
Location and Working Pattern:
Location: Base to be confirmed (Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen)
Work Pattern: Monday to Friday - 37 hours per week
It is a condition of this employment that you must live and remain a resident within the UK for the post in which you will be employed with NSS.
