Job Overview
Management consultant role within the Supply Chain Strategy and Operations department. Reports to a manager, works directly with the client to provide independent expert advice, identify challenges, and design solutions that increase value, efficiency and profitability. Supports both project delivery and business development.
Primary Responsibilities
* Build and maintain strong relationships with senior clients, acting as a trusted advisor.
* Understand client business objectives, challenges and industry trends.
* Ensure high client satisfaction through effective communication and timely delivery of project milestones.
* Support the Engagement Manager across the consulting engagement life‑cycle (planning, budgeting, mobilisation, design, content development, risk management).
* Manage individual workstreams and milestones, ensuring timelines and budgets are met.
* Perform analysis using quantitative and qualitative research methodologies (data mining, financial models, market research).
* Review findings and present solutions to the client.
* Develop artefacts that support the presentation of solutions and plans using standard Microsoft Office applications.
* Deliver tasks to the quality standards and processes of the client and Squarcle.
* Identify and pursue follow‑on work and new business opportunities with existing and potential clients.
* Support sales and bid processes where assigned.
* Provide guidance and mentorship to junior consultants.
* Stay updated on industry trends, best practices and emerging technologies.
Secondary Responsibilities
* Produce internal reporting.
* Develop and refine Squarcle methods and processes.
* Support wider team activities such as knowledge sessions and recruitment.
Essential Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree (2:1) or higher in a related subject or equivalent experience.
* Hands‑on experience in a complex, multi‑echelon supply chain environment.
* Core consulting skills: research, analysis, presentation, attention to detail.
* Exceptional interpersonal, problem‑solving and client‑service skills.
* Self‑directed, independent contributor and intellectual curiosity.
* Strong written and verbal communication.
* Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
* Experience in large‑scale or complex programme environments.
* Understanding of first and second‑line supply chain functions.
Desirable Qualifications
* Business Improvement Qualification (Lean, Kanban, Six Sigma).
* S&OP training or supply chain qualification (APICS, CPIM, CIPS or CILT).
* Experience within Defence, Aerospace or other highly regulated programme environments.
* Knowledge of Microsoft Power BI and Visio.
* Leadership and workload management skills.
* High emotional intelligence and confidence to work with senior executives.
