Rural Stirling Housing Association, Doune
We are currently recruiting new Board Members. We are an ambitious, forward‑thinking organisation, committed to providing high‑quality, affordable homes and supporting our communities throughout the north and west rural Stirling Council area. A large part of our area of operation falls within the boundary of Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park.
Our vision is for Strong and Attractive Rural Communities and our supporting mission is to provide affordable, high‑quality housing and support community aspirations. We have an ambitious new build development programme with proposals to develop more rural housing.
To support us in achieving our ambitions and as part of our focus on succession planning, we are now looking for enthusiastic and committed people who share our passion for the community to join our parent company Board.
Responsibilities
* Part of a team responsible for the overall strategic direction of the business, ultimate control of corporate governance and financial management.
* Help shape the future of the services we provide for tenants, residents and other customers.
* Work closely with the CEO and senior management in setting and achieving objectives.
* Lead on the strategic direction of a growing organisation, play a key role in delivering high‑quality services, defining goals and targets, and scrutinising performance.
Qualifications and experience
* Share our values and those of the social housing sector.
* Have a genuine commitment to strengthening local communities.
* Have specific experience of being a social housing tenant.
* Have finance and accounting skills and expertise, experience of IT and Digital strategy development, or professional housing experience in customer service and policy development at a senior level.
* Have the confidence and ability to question and challenge effectively.
* Have previous experience of being a board member or a good understanding of governance and board responsibilities.
Commitment and benefits
Voluntary unpaid position; appropriate expenses can be paid in line with our Entitlement, Payments and Benefits Policy. Expect to prepare for, attend and contribute to Board meetings (eight times a year), committee meetings (three times a year), an annual Group Strategy event and training sessions. The Board meets in person in our Boardroom in Doune between March and October and remotely using Zoom in November and February; hybrid meetings are available. You will receive a comprehensive induction and ongoing training.
