Teaching Assistant – Alternative Provision (Primary & Secondary)
Location: Burgess Hill, West Sussex
Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:30–15:30
Pay: £100 per day
Contract Type: Long-term & Temp-to-Perm
Transportation: Driver is required
About the Role
Reed Education is seeking passionate and dedicated Teaching Assistants to support students in a well-established Alternative Provision setting. You’ll be working with primary and secondary-aged pupils who require additional support outside of mainstream education.
This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real impact in young people’s lives while gaining valuable experience in a specialist setting. Roles are available across multiple sites in West Sussex, some sites along the coast are accessible via public transport; however, this role will require a driver.
Key Responsibilities
* Support teachers in lesson delivery and classroom activities
* Motivate and engage pupils, including those with SEMH needs
* Help manage challenging behaviours in a nurturing environment
* Collaborate with staff to implement tailored educational plans
* Monitor and contribute to student progress
* Participate in ongoing training and development
Requirements
* Experience with SEN, SEMH, or challenging behaviour (essential)
* GCSEs in Maths & English (Grade C/4 or above)
* NVQ Level 3 in Supporting Teaching & Learning (preferred) or equivalent experience
* Strong communication and organisational skills
* Familiarity with the national curriculum and inclusion practices
