West Berkshire Council is seeking a Market Development Officer to join our Commissioning and Procurement Service, working alongside the Market Development & Engagement Manager to support the effective commissioning and delivery of services for our residents.
Role Overview
As a Market Development Officer, you will play a key role in:
* Supporting the Market Development & Engagement Manager in market development and engagement activities
* Working collaboratively with internal stakeholders to identify commissioning needs and ensure appropriate market solutions
* Conducting market analysis and research to inform commissioning decisions
* Engaging with providers and businesses to promote participation in commissioning opportunities
* Supporting the implementation of contracts and ensuring effective performance management
About You
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:
* Experience working in a similar market development or commissioning role within the public sector
* Knowledge of procurement processes and legislation
* Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage and influence providers, internal teams, and other organisations
* Excellent analytical and research skills, with the ability to interpret data and draw meaningful conclusions
* Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
* Self‑motivated and able to work independently, as well as part of a team
