We are looking for a caring, reliable, and enthusiastic Personal Assistant to support a nearly 11 year old energetic boy with Down Syndrome on a 1:1 basis in the community. He has a great sense of humour and is fun to be with. Living in the Hayle area. He enjoys the park, swimming, walks in the woods and outdoor activities, football and puzzles. He is pre verbal and communicates using Makaton and PECS. Experience with these communication methods would be an advantage, although this is not essential. Support required to provide 1:1 support in the community. Some personal care may be required. This is a part-time role, offering 5 hours per week, with flexibility around when these hours are worked. Availability at weekends and during school holidays is essential. The hourly rate is £13.45, with a mileage allowance paid when the young person is transported in the PA’s vehicle. You must have a full driving license and appropriate business cover to transport the young person. The successful applicant will be employed under a private arrangement with the family, and not be employed or carry out work for Cornwall Council.
