The Opportunity
Stantec is working on many of the world’s largest, complex and most exciting hydropower projects. Due to our ongoing success we are rapidly growing and seek a Principal Electrical Engineer to join our dynamic team, working on the design and development of cutting‑edge hydropower and pumped storage hydro solutions. This role can be based anywhere in the UK.
It is a great opportunity to join a growing multi‑disciplinary team involved in projects as varied and different as Coire Glas in Scotland, Koysha in Ethiopia, and Dinorwig in Wales, as well as supporting our growing transmission and distribution business.
We have developed a strong reputation within the sector as a leading, progressive and forward‑thinking consultancy, focused on delivering high quality outputs to ensure the client achieves their outcomes and business benefits.
As a Principal, you will be responsible for leading the electrical engineering design of hydropower projects, including generators, control and instrumentation systems, protection, substations and transmission lines. You will perform design, model and analyse electrical and electronic systems to ensure project feasibility and compliance with industry standards. You will take line‑management responsibility for some team members, support business growth and strategy development, and own project deliverables.
You will provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and collaborate with civil, mechanical and other engineering disciplines to ensure a fully integrated project design. There will also be opportunities to engage in the design and delivery of significant grid upgrade projects, including new transmission lines and substations.
