Advanced Clinical Practitioner – Cardiac and Thoracic

Responsibilities
- Lead ACP‑led ward rounds and thoracic ward attender clinics with support from consultants and registrar team.
- Provide independent clinical management of patients undergoing lung cancer surgery and chest trauma care.
- Deliver advanced assessment, diagnostic decision‑making, leadership and educational support within the four pillars of Advanced Practice: expert clinical practice, leadership & management, research and education & development.
- Work 12‑hour shifts from 07:30 to 20:30, seven days a week, and 7.5‑hour shifts for clinic coverage.
- Participate in audit, quality improvement initiatives, service development and research projects.
- Practice within agreed care protocols, monitored by the Designated Medical Lead / Lead ACP.
- Provide specialist advice, education and support to patients, carers and other health professionals.
- Collaborate across professional, departmental and Trust boundaries to deliver patient‑centred seamless care.
Qualifications
- Registered Healthcare Professional on the relevant NMC/HCPC register.
- MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice (180 credits) or equivalent portfolio route recognised by HEE or completion of a nationally recognised specialty‑specific Advanced Clinical Practice programme (e.g. FICM or RCEM EM ACP).
- Specialty‑specific post‑registration qualification or training.
- Evidence of leading learning in practice and supporting colleagues to promote learning and a positive learning environment.
- Evidence of supervising and managing a range of learning needs.
- Leadership and management qualification.
- Ability to develop and implement policy, guidelines and projects from initiation to completion.
- Completion of IR(ME)R training.
- Extensive post‑registration experience in a relevant speciality.
- Experience of service development.
- Acting as a practice assessor or supporting the progression of learners.
- ALS instructor.
- EPLS/PALS provider.
