Our success is built on innovation, quality, and the talent of our people. We're now looking for a Design Engineer to join our growing team in Hull—someone with the creativity, drive, and technical skills to make a difference from day one.
What You'll Do
As a Design Engineer, you'll be at the heart of our engineering operations, shaping projects from concept to completion. Key responsibilities include:
* Owning and managing jobs through the engineering workflow, ensuring timely and complete delivery
* Producing detailed 3D models, 2D manufacturing and assembly drawings, and Bills of Materials
* Designing components with consideration for materials, regulations, and Whole Vehicle Type Approval
* Collaborating with production, sales, and other teams for smooth project execution
* Updating legacy designs for continuous improvement
* Supporting R&D and contributing to product innovation
* Creating technical sales drawings to support customer enquiries
* Engaging directly with shop floor teams to support manufacturing processes
What You'll Bring
We're looking for someone who can hit the ground running with the following skills and attributes:
* Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor 2023, Vault 2023, and AutoCAD 2023 (bonus if you know iLogic)
* Confidence with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook)
* Solid knowledge of steel, timber, and GRP composite materials
* Understanding of Whole Vehicle Type Approval
* A passion for Design for Manufacture and lean engineering principles
* Excellent attention to detail and visualisation skills
* Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
Your Background
Applicants should have:
* 23 years of experience in a similar design or engineering role
* An educational background in mechanical or related engineering fields
* Hands-on experience with commercial vehicle bodybuilding or van conversions using insulated panels (a strong advantage)
