The job itself
An opportunity has arisen to join the Highways Technical Service Group based at the Beverley Depot. You would join a team with responsibility for the management and delivery of all aspects of work within the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991, the Traffic Management Act 2004 and associated regulations and Code of Practice.
Duties will include the inspection and monitoring of Street Works in the highway, monitoring the skip and scaffold licencing process, assisting the Coring team with the implementation of the Coring Program as well as the BDUK fibre installation program. You will also be responsible in assisting winter services supporting winter operations. This role will be flexible with some evenings and weekends required.
To enable this work to be completed you must have excellent IT skills.
Ideally, you should be qualified to ONC level or equivalent, or have suitable experience in a highway maintenance related discipline or be able to demonstrate significant experience of working in a similar role. You should also have experience in the operational delivery of a customer focused service.
You should have a developed interpersonal and communication skills to enable you to deal with internal and external customers in a professional and confident manner. You should also be a good team player, being both flexible and positive and able to adapt to new situations or procedures as required.
Although based at the Beverley Depot, you will be expected to travel to outlying sites to undertake inspections for which a mileage allowance is payable.
