Edge of Care Worker (part time)

This post will be based within the Edge of Care (EOC) and you will be providing 1-to-1 specialist targeted outreach services to young people, children and families living in the Royal Borough of Kingston, the London Borough of Richmond and the surrounding areas, with medium support needs to high support needs. This role will be an integral part of the EOC as you will be operational and working flexibly with our most vulnerable children and families across the week.

The salary shown is the Full Time equivalent and will be calculated pro-rata.

About the role

As an Edge of Care Worker you will be providing 1-to-1 support to children, young people and families in their own homes and in the community. These children and young people will be experiencing social, emotional and behavioural difficulties. You will have a caseload which will consist of mostly medium to high need, challenging & complex cases. This is an exciting opportunity for individuals who have flexible hours across the week and would like to work in a challenging yet rewarding role. You will be responsible for your own diary management and working autonomously.

You will liaise with service managers, case Social Workers/Personal Advisors and the Commissioning team to agree a tailored targeted support package for each matched referral. You will attend introductory meetings to agree SMART goals and work with clients to achieve these & record/evidence contact for each session. You will complete risk and needs assessments and raise all safeguarding concerns as needed.

About you

The successful candidate will be:

2. Educated to GCSE level.
3. Relevant professional qualification in working with children or young people, youth work or supported housing.
4. Experience of working with families with complex needs e.g. mental health & substance misuse
5. Experience of working with children & young people who display high levels of challenging behaviour.
6. Experience of decision making, managing & reporting safeguarding incidents including being involved in the Child Protection Process with working knowledge of the relevant legislation.
7. Experience of working with families experiencing domestic violence.
8. Experience of working alone in the community and holding strong personal boundaries.
9. Advocating the voices of those we are working with.
10. Experience of keeping and maintaining accurate records (in accordance with HOST policy).
11. Knowledge and understanding of the life skills needed to live independently and experience in delivering these to young people.
12. Experience in inspiring and encouraging other staff to support young people and families to achieve positive outcomes.
13. Able to initiate learning opportunities and disseminate information to colleagues to promote their development to upskill in supporting higher level needs cases.
14. Ability to work some unsociable hours including evenings and weekends.
15. Experience of addressing specific equality or diversity issues within your practice with colleagues/service users and taking action to solve them.
