An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Ophthalmology Department at Worcester Royal Hospital. We are looking for a dynamic, flexible, enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our team.
The post holder will have a base at Worcester Royal Hospital and will be required to work in all areas of the Ophthalmology Department, including the local anaesthetic theatre suite, outpatient clinic and day‑case unit. As a countywide service delivering ophthalmic care, the role may require travel between sites on occasion.
Main duties of the job
Working in the ophthalmic outpatient clinic, you will be involved in assessing visual acuity, checking intra‑ocular pressure and performing diagnostic tests on patients such as OCT, auto‑refraction, Pentacam and visual fields.
Within the ophthalmic theatre suite you will take part in theatre runner and theatre escort roles as well as assisting in the intravitreal injection theatre.

Job Purpose
The Health Care Assistant is a member of the ward/department team who implements prescribed care and, where directed by a registered nurse, undertakes some higher‑level clinical activities. The main dimensions of the role are to:
* Support registered health‑care staff to deliver high‑quality, compassionate care to patients in accordance with assessed needs and care plans.
* Support the clinical team with day‑to‑day supervision of junior staff and students.
* Use your own initiative, independently and as part of a team, to accommodate changing demands on the wider clinical team.
* Support the ward/department staff to provide a high‑quality service.
* Undertake a range of delegated clinical care duties, acting on own initiative where appropriate, supported by accessible supervision.
