Job Summary
* Bracknell Forest Borough Council is seeking a qualified Lawyer to join its legal service on a temporary basis.
* The postholder will provide professional legal advice and support primarily in the areas of contract and procurement law, supporting the Council’s services to deliver compliant and effective outcomes.
* This is a predominantly remote working role, with an initial requirement to attend the Bracknell office to collect IT equipment.
* The role is offered on a part-time basis (22 hours per week) with working days negotiable.
Key Duties / Accountabilities (Sample)
* Provide legal advice and support on contract and procurement matters.
* Draft, review and advise on a range of contracts, agreements and procurement documentation.
* Ensure procurement activities comply with relevant legislation, regulations and council policies.
* Support council departments with legal risk management and governance requirements.
* Advise officers on contract variations, extensions and dispute issues.
* Assist with interpretation and application of public sector procurement rules.
* Liaise with internal stakeholders to support service delivery and decision-making.
* Maintain accurate legal records and documentation in line with council procedures.
* Work collaboratively with colleagues to meet service deadlines and priorities.
Skills / Experience
* Proven experience in contract law within a public sector or similar environment.
* Strong knowledge of procurement law and public sector procurement processes.
* Experience drafting, reviewing and negotiating contracts.
* Ability to provide clear, practical and commercially aware legal advice.
* Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to manage workloads independently and meet deadlines.
Additional Information
* Part-time – 22 Hr / week (days negotiable).
* REMOTE role.
* Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Legal Executive (essential).
