Altogether, there are more than 930m2 of laboratory space and offices for more than 100 scientists, technicians and domain experts.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a postdoctoral researcher to model fluid flow and heat transfer in Enhanced Geothermal Systems (EGS) – a rapidly evolving technology that aims to unlock geothermal potential beyond conventional locations. This is fundamental research with direct industrial impact, delivered in a collaborative, multidisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities:

* Conduct high-fidelity simulations of fluid flow and heat transfer in fractured media under realistic EGS conditions.
* Quantify the key physics governing heat extraction efficiency and overall EGS performance.
* Present results to peers, stakeholders, and at scientific conferences.
* Contribute to publications and internal reports.

Essential Requirements:

* PhD in fluid mechanics, applied mathematics, engineering, or related physical sciences.
* Demonstrated expertise in numerical modelling of fluid flow and heat transfer (PDEs, discretisation, verification/validation).
* Ability to develop mathematical models, making assumptions explicit, and clearly communicate results.
* Strong programming skills.
* Publication record in reputable peer-reviewed journals.

Desirable Skills:

* Experience with CFD software (e.g., OpenFOAM, ANSYS Fluent, or COMSOL Multiphysics) and resource-intensive simulations.
* Background in multiphysics or subsurface flow modelling (porous/fractured media).
* Experience with model reduction techniques, data-driven analysis, or uncertainty/sensitivity analysis.

What we can offer you:

Competitive base salary with bonus, private healthcare for employee & family, subsidised dental care, Health & Wellbeing programs such as the Employee Mental health support, health & wellness coaching, part employer and employee funded pension contribution, Income protection scheme, life insurance.

Other benefits are also available through the SLB flexible benefits program.
