Junior Sous Chef – £34,000 per Annum | The Rose and Crown, Trent
About the Role
We are looking for a driven and talented Junior Sous Chef to join the kitchen team at The Rose and Crown in Trent. This role offers a fantastic opportunity for a strong Chef de Partie (CDP) who is ready to step up into a Junior Sous Chef position and develop their skills over time. Working directly under the Head Chef, you’ll be a key part of a dynamic kitchen team, supporting daily operations and delivering exceptional dishes while also learning the ropes of a more senior role. This will be a 4 day working week from Wednesday - Saturday. Roughly 45 hours.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist the Head Chef in overseeing kitchen operations and ensuring smooth and efficient service.
* Prepare and present high-quality dishes in line with the restaurant’s standards, maintaining consistency and creativity.
* Manage kitchen staff during service, helping them stay organized and ensuring the quality of dishes.
* Take responsibility for the kitchen in the absence of the Head Chef, stepping into a leadership role.
* Contribute to menu planning and ensure the use of seasonal, locally sourced ingredients.
* Maintain a strong focus on food hygiene, safety standards, and compliance with all health regulations.
* Help with stock control, inventory management, and ordering supplies to keep the kitchen running efficiently.
Requirements
* Strong experience as a Chef de Partie in a busy kitchen, with a desire to step up into a Junior Sous Chef role.
* Excellent understanding of food hygiene, health and safety regulations, and kitchen procedures.
* Passion for cooking with fresh, seasonal ingredients and a drive to learn new techniques.
* Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to thrive under pressure.
* Leadership potential and the ability to mentor and guide junior kitchen staff.
* A can-do attitude and eagerness to develop into a full Sous Chef over time.
