My client is an established Financial Sector business who are undertaking a technology transformation that is part of a growth strategy. They have spent some time re-organising IT so that it has the baseline and structure to be successful, we are now looking for strong individuals to join the team. What will you be doing? The Infrastructure Practice Lead is responsible for leading the strategic direction, design, and delivery of infrastructure services across the organization. This role ensures that infrastructure solutions are robust, scalable, secure, and aligned with business objectives and best practices. The Practice Lead will work with a team of infrastructure professionals, oversee project activities, and act as a subject matter expert in infrastructure technologies. Leadership & Standards Development Define and champion infrastructure standards, frameworks, and best practices across the team. Lead the development and enforcement of consistent design, documentation, and operational procedures. Foster a culture of continuous improvement, knowledge sharing, and technical excellence. Technical Oversight Oversee the design, implementation, and lifecycle management of infrastructure platforms in collaboration with our other technical teams Ensure infrastructure solutions are secure, scalable, and aligned with architectural standards. Drive automation and standardisation Practice Management Working with the people leader build a high performing infrastructure practice through coaching, mentoring, and skills development. Conduct regular reviews of team performance against technical quality and adherence to standards. Lead the creation and maintenance of a central knowledge base and reusable assets (e.g., templates, runbooks, SOPs). Project & Service Delivery Ensure all infrastructure related activities are delivered to agreed technical standards and principles Act as an escalation point for complex technical issues and provide input into root cause analysis and lessons learned. Governance & Compliance Ensure infrastructure practices comply with internal policies, industry regulations, and security standards. Lead regular audits and reviews to assess compliance with infrastructure standards and controls. What skills and experience are we looking for? Strategic Infrastructure Leadership : Ability to shape and aid transition from on-premises to cloud and SaaS, aligning with business goals. Technical Expertise : Deep knowledge of hybrid infrastructure, cloud platforms, security, and automation tools. Stakeholder Engagement : Strong communicator who can influence at all levels and translate technical concepts into business value. Customer-Focused & Resilient : Committed to service excellence, continuous improvement, and maintaining performance under pressure. Experience 5 years in IT infrastructure, with at least 23 years in a leadership or strategic role. Proven experience in working with on-premise environments (e.g., data centres networking, storage, virtualization). Experience working in regulated industries, ideally financial services or building societies. Familiarity with hybrid environments and SaaS adoption strategies. Track record of vendor management, including SaaS providers and cloud service partners. Experience with ITIL practices, service management, and governance frameworks What is in it for you?
