Offer description

As a Project Manager, you will be responsible for managing and delivering projects on Thames Water buildings, including structural projects (Lifecycle) and facilities for staff (Welfare). These projects involve a range of buildings, including Listed and operationally important structures.

You will manage a portfolio of projects ranging from approximately £30,000 to £2 million, from initial scoping to completion, including reporting and handover. This role offers a good work-life balance within a collaborative team, with travel across Thames Valley and/or London Region.


Responsibilities:

1. Scope projects independently, liaising with Operational Specialists to ensure comprehensive project scope.
2. Invite tenders from framework contractors, manage submissions, and review and award tenders.
3. Ensure CDM compliance, acting as Client and managing Principal Designer and Contractor, ensuring safe, timely, within-budget delivery following Thames Water and legal guidelines.
4. Coordinate with the Controller of Premises for Pre-Construction information, and review Contractors' plans and risk assessments for safety.
5. Induct contractors and supply chain regarding site hazards and safety issues.
6. Maintain high standards in health and safety, environment, and quality, with organized administrative records.
7. Communicate regularly with the Controller of Premises, managing contractor performance and resolving issues.
8. Forecast spending accurately, report to delivery managers, and escalate issues as needed, adhering to governance procedures.

The role includes a car allowance, requiring a valid driving license. The position is based in Ashford Common, West London, with travel to various sites as needed. Working hours are Monday to Friday, 36 hours/week. The internal job title is 'Project Engineer'.


Candidate Requirements:

* Preferably a background in Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering.
* Ability to coordinate with multiple stakeholders, work independently, and demonstrate initiative.
* Experience in Construction or Engineering Project Management.


Additional Skills and Qualifications:

* Formal qualifications such as a BTEC/HND in relevant disciplines or equivalent experience.
* Knowledge of Water Processing or Wastewater treatment is advantageous.
* Understanding of Health and Safety standards, including CDM; training provided.
