⚽ Join Our Team. The West Ham United Foundation is looking for a passionate and driven School Engagement Officer to lead and deliver impactful education programmes across our partner school and community hub at Jo Richardson Community School. This is an exciting opportunity to work directly with young people, using sport, education, and personal development to inspire positive change ⚒️
Job Purpose
As a School Engagement Officer, you will lead delivery within a school-based programme, supporting young people through a curriculum focused on: Wellbeing, Personal Development, Life Skills. You will deliver a blend of classroom and practical sessions, engaging learners through innovative and inclusive approaches.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead programme delivery at Jo Richardson Community School
* Deliver group sessions, workshops, 1:1 mentoring, and enrichment activities
* Support students facing behavioural or personal challenges
* Promote inclusion, engagement, and positive participation in school life
* Build relationships between school, families, and external support networks
* Deliver accredited qualifications (e.g. Sports Leadership & Business Admin)
* Provide wellbeing, emotional regulation, and personal development support
* Support students with reintegration into mainstream education
* Monitor, evaluate, and report on programme impact
* Contribute to partnership development between school and foundation
* Ensure safeguarding and welfare of all participants
Additional Responsibilities
* Plan and deliver engaging, high-quality sessions
* Positively engage vulnerable and at-risk young people
* Complete risk assessments and maintain compliance systems
* Build strong relationships with schools and stakeholders
* Maintain accurate data (e.g. Salesforce systems)
* Support wider Education Department programmes

Person Specification
Education & Experience (Essential)
* Degree in relevant subject and/or Youth Work qualification (Level 2+)
* Level 2 National Governing Body (NGB) Sports Qualification
* Proven experience delivering programmes and achieving positive outcomes
* Experience working with diverse communities
* Experience supporting young people aged 11–16, including vulnerable or at-risk groups
Skills & Abilities (Essential)
* Strong relationship-building and teamwork skills
* Ability to engage and motivate young people from varied backgrounds
* Experience planning and delivering impactful educational sessions
* Understanding of safeguarding and health & safety
* Ability to monitor, evaluate, and report on delivery
* Professional integrity and responsible use of resources
