This is an exciting time to join the Department for Business and Trade (DBT). We support businesses to invest, grow and export, creating jobs and opportunities across the country – sitting at the heart of the government’s Growth Mission. You can find out more about what we do on our careers pages.
We are looking for a Senior Capability Consultant to join our Organisational Capability Group (OCG) which is part of the People and Place directorate. This is a great opportunity for someone with experience in building people capability and driving a learning culture in a complex and high-profile environment.
You will be responsible for the overarching leadership offer in DBT. Your role will offer opportunities to support the development of leadership capability for colleagues both in the UK and based overseas, play a key role in strategic direction setting, and support business delivery. In particular, you will be engaging with senior stakeholders to deliver senior leadership events, working at pace in a sometimes ambiguous environment.
DBT is a fantastic place to work, with wide-ranging responsibilities across the UK economy, providing the chance to make a positive difference to peoples’ lives. We are committed to creating a positive and inclusive working environment, and are looking for people who can contribute to this culture, as well as to what we deliver.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Delivering the overarching leadership capability strategy, ensuring we continue to build the capabilities needed for the future and align with Civil Service Leadership standards.
* Working with internal and external stakeholders and suppliers to design and deliver leadership capability interventions to ensure that our development offer is best in class. Including specifically delivery of regular Senior Civil Service (SCS) internal events; managing and building our DBT coaching offer; and development of a leadership offer for delegated (non-SCS) grades.
* Providing strong leadership and management of the leadership capability team, instilling excellent customer focus, business delivery, reporting and data/insight led prioritisation and decision making.
* Developing project plans, budget management, monitor progress and manage risk to support effective and timely delivery of key activities.
