Job description
Our client, a leading provider in the Oil & Gas sector, is currently seeking a Senior Instrumentation Engineer to join their dynamic team on a contract basis. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to industry-leading projects across various phases, from concept studies to the engineering, procurement, and construction management (EPCm) of major developments. Projects span from traditional Oil & Gas assets to innovative Hydrogen production and storage solutions. This environment will enable you to thrive and excel in a supportive, collaborative setting.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Providing technical input for instrumentation discipline on projects and proposals, including preparing, checking, and approving engineering documentation
2. Ensuring compliance with national and international codes, legislation, and company/client standards and procedures
3. Preparing equipment and material requisitions for control systems, safety systems, analyser houses, field instrumentation, and other instrument equipment
4. Preparing installation scopes of work
5. Reviewing supplier quotations and preparing technical bid assessments
More specific tasks could include:
6. Full life-cycle development of control or protection systems
7. Software qualification of SMART devices and PLCs
8. Performing functional safety related tasks
9. Managing C&I ageing and obsolescence
Job Requirements:
Qualifications:
Degree in Electronic, Electrical, or Control Engineering. Apprenticeships may be considered. Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status with a relevant professional body, or evidence of working towards these professional titles.
Technical Experience:
10. Proficiency in design practices and installation requirements across various industries
11. Experience in the Oil & Gas, Nuclear, and/or Water sectors
12. Knowledge of UK legislation and standards
13. Understanding the requirements for installing equipment in process plants with potentially explosive areas
14. Experience with CE marking of plant and equipment, including ATEX, PED, Low Voltage Directive, Machinery Directive, and EMC Compliance
15. Awareness of risk identification, quantification, management, and HSE requirements
