Junior Clinical Fellow - Plastic Surgery
You will be encouraged to develop your clinical skills and progress in the post with the aim of enabling you to advance and move on to obtain a registrar post, either at QVH if a vacancy exists, or through a national training number or Trust post elsewhere.
The department is one of the largest plastic surgery departments in the UK, supported by junior medical staff, specialist nurses, occupational and physiotherapists and speech therapists.
We are recruiting to a 6 month fixed term post with possibility of extending to 12 months.
Main duties of the job
You will be exposed to elective and emergency plastic surgery patients, gaining experience in how to approach clinical situations in plastic surgery; from initial consultation, diagnosis, to clerking and preparing patients for theatre, post‑op management and follow‑up in outpatient clinics.
Experience will be gained in handling of tissue and managing wounds, performing basic plastic surgical procedures particularly in wound debridement and coverage and in hand trauma.
You will have exposure to a wide variety of plastic surgery patients, both trauma and elective, will undertake ward rounds and liaise/engage multi‑disciplinary teams to draw up appropriate treatment plans. Duties will also include, upkeep of medical records and involvement in clinical audit and opportunities for research are available.

Qualifications and Eligibility
* Full GMC registration with licence to practice
* >=2 years post medical qualification
* Completed a foundation (or equivalent) job in medicine or A&E
* CT1+ level surgical experience in NHS (paid or unpaid)
* No more than 2 years of existing plastic surgery experience
* Insightful and mature answers to white space questions, demonstrating good written communication
* In‑date ALS/ATLS/equivalent
* Plastic surgery experience
* MRCS or USMLE
* Courses directly relevant to plastic surgery
* Evidence of involvement in audit
* Evidence of involvement in research
* Teaching experience
