Senior Structural Design Engineer - Job Description
Location: Manchester (Hybrid: remote + occasional office/site visits)
Type: Contract (6 months initial)
Rate: £400-£500/day (Outside IR35)
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Structural Design Engineer to support a Tier 1 Design & Build contractor within the water industry. The role involves delivering structural design solutions across water and wastewater infrastructure projects, working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and deliver structural design for water and wastewater infrastructure projects
* Produce and review design calculations, drawings, and specifications
* Ensure designs comply with relevant codes, standards, and project requirements
* Coordinate with civil, mechanical, electrical, and process teams
* Support design reviews, risk assessments, and value engineering
* Engage with site teams and stakeholders to ensure buildable and efficient solutions
* Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers
Requirements
* Degree-qualified in Civil or Structural Engineering
* Proven experience in structural design within the water sector
* Strong knowledge of reinforced concrete and structural analysis
* Familiar with UK design standards (Eurocodes, BS)
* Experience working with Tier 1 contractors or major infrastructure projects
* Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Additional Information
