School Health - Team Lead

Job Summary
This post is positioned within the School Health Service, part of the Children's Community Health Services Directorate in Manchester Local Care Organisation. The School Health Service operates citywide across Manchester working in partnership with schools to improve the health outcomes of children, young people and their families. The Service comprises several teams: Healthy Child Programme (HCP), School Health Screening Team, Healthy Schools, and the Healthy Weight Team, and contributes to tackling health inequalities by addressing the city's key public health priorities for children.
Main Duties
Working with a citywide overview, this Team Lead post is responsible for the day‑to‑day leadership and management of one of the four child‑focused functions. This role is rotational to provide professional development and support service delivery. The Team Lead will also work with the other Function Team Leads, Heads of Service and Lead Manager to form the School Health Services Management Team.
Qualifications and Experience
1. Education and Professional Qualifications (Essential)
o Degree level qualification in a relevant field
o Management/leadership qualification or significant relevant training and/or experience
o Mentorship/teaching/coaching qualification and/or equivalent training
2. Qualifications (Desirable)
o First level Registered Nurse Adult/Child
o BSc (Hons) SCPHN [SN]
o V100/V150 qualification and registered with NMC
3. Experience (Essential)
o Significant leadership and/or management experience in healthcare or a related setting
o Evidence of leading change in practice
o Experience of effective team leadership
o Experience of staff development
o Evidence of managing a team of staff for a substantial period
o Experience working at a senior level, e.g., Band 6 or above in clinical settings
4. Skills/Abilities (Essential)
o Good communication skills
o Understanding of research/evidence‑based practice
o Good organisational skills
o Problem‑solving ability
o Appraisal and supervision skills
o Experience of safeguarding
o Research and development skills
o IT literacy (e.g., word processing, email and Microsoft Teams)
