Summary
The main purpose of this role is to manage a team to achieve delivery of switchgear, substation, and diversion projects on the UKPN framework contract, ensuring safety regulations, quality standards, and project specifications are met. The role reports to the Operations Manager / Senior Project Manager.
Key responsibilities include:
* Managing multiple/major projects from inception to completion safely, competently, and within budget;
* Overseeing all financial aspects of projects, including costing and invoicing for additional work;
* Guiding team members to ensure safe, effective, and efficient operations;
* Monitoring and reporting project progress to clients as required;
* Ensuring team adherence to safety rules, procedures, method statements, and risk assessments;
* Liaising with third parties to facilitate smooth project execution;
* Maintaining site safety and conducting risk assessments;
* Reporting SHE concerns to the SHE team;
* Managing staff performance and identifying training needs;
* Conducting site safety inspections and ensuring remedial actions are taken;
* Maintaining statutory records, certificates, licenses, and notices;
* Preparing project Safety, CDM plans, and Risk Assessments.
Candidate requirements:
* Extensive project management experience;
* Knowledge of the DNO network, specifically UKPN EPN;
* Understanding of distribution substation equipment such as transformers, switchgear, and distribution boards;
* Experience with switchgear, substation, and asset replacement projects;
* Financial acumen related to project management;
* Knowledge of Health & Safety regulations and practical application;
* CDM knowledge;
* Relevant qualifications such as NVQ/ONC/HNC or higher;
* Safety certifications like IOSH, NEBOSH, SMSTS;
* NRSWA accreditation;
* Project management qualification (preferred);
* UKPN authorizations (beneficial).
