Aurora Cedars School in Wolverhampton offers a bespoke education provision for up to 80 pupils aged 5-19 who have ASC/SEMH needs, some of whom require support with their speech and language and communication needs. We are looking for an enthusiastic Speech and Language Therapist to work as part of a therapy team at Aurora Cedars.

Working collaboratively with staff, you will support teams to deliver bespoke assessment and intervention plans for our children and young people with a range of Special Educational Needs.
You will manage a small speech and language therapy caseload for the school and, with the support of our Clinical Lead and SENCo, contribute to staff training, consultation, and reflective practice.

Main Purpose: To contribute to and develop an integrated Speech and Language Therapy service for pupils at Aurora Cedars School, providing assessment, intervention, advice, and training within a multi-disciplinary team.
Key Accountabilities:
* Assess students' speech, language, and social communication skills.
* Write assessment reports and progress reports for EHCP reviews.
* Develop, implement, and review communication programs.
* Deliver therapy interventions both 1:1 and in small groups.
* Create visual supports such as Social Stories and visual timetables.
* Provide advice and support to education teams, families, and other professionals.
* Work collaboratively with other agencies and professionals.
* Promote a Total Communication approach across the service.
* Develop and deliver staff training on communication topics.
* Delegate tasks to therapy assistants where appropriate.
Key Duties:
* Manage caseloads efficiently.
* Maintain clinical records confidentially.
* Conduct comprehensive communication assessments.
* Contribute to EHCP planning and review.
* Develop and monitor communication programs.
* Collaborate with the team to develop communication passports.
* Attend reviews and multidisciplinary meetings.
* Use specialist software to produce accessible resources.
* Provide assessment visits to prospective students.
* Support the implementation of accessible learning environments.
* Model good practice in total communication techniques.
* Provide direct therapy interventions as needed.
* Refer for specialist assessments when necessary.
* Engage in CPD activities to maintain expertise.
* Supervise therapy assistants as required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
* Knowledge of therapy interventions, behaviour support, and autism spectrum conditions.
* Understanding of safeguarding, health and safety procedures.
* Experience with children with learning disabilities, SEMH, and complex needs.
* Registered with RCSLT and HCPC.
* Hold a relevant degree in Speech and Language Therapy.

Salary: £15.53 to £18.62 per hour, depending on experience.
