Role: Locum Consultant in Respiratory Medicine
Rates: £100 - £125 per hour (PAYE)
Shifts: 09:00am - 17:00pm, Monday to Friday
Location: Scarborough Hospital
Shift mix: 4 clinics per week + 2 sleep reporting sessions + 1 admin session (Bridlington & Scarborough)

As a locum consultant in respiratory medicine, you will apply your skills across acute respiratory medicine and general medicine to support patient demand throughout the hospital. Your expertise is critical to patient care, especially for complex cases involving multiple symptoms and conditions.
Working flexible shifts at York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, you will join the acute medical workforce on a locum basis, providing diagnostic reasoning and management of acute COPD exacerbations, while supporting junior doctors and trainees.

Main Duties/Responsibilities
 * Actively support patients and families, explaining diagnoses and treatment options clearly.
 * Coordinate treatment plans and prescribe various therapies.
 * Provide continuous monitoring and care for patients.
 * Communicate with patients and the multidisciplinary team for shared decision making.
 * Lead and participate in a multidisciplinary team as appropriate.
 * Assess and prioritise patient needs, delegating where appropriate.
 * Monitor patient conditions and report changes to the team.
 * Maintain records, prescribe medications, provide information to patients, and monitor treatment plans.
 * Contribute to research to develop and test improved techniques and equipment.
 * Support teaching and training of junior doctors, medical students, and other team members.
Qualifications/Licenses/Certifications
 * Be a GMC registered Doctor (you do NOT need to be on the Specialist Register).
 * Have relevant experience at Consultant level, or references to support transition to Consultant level.
 * Hold evidence of stand-alone Right to Work in the UK (locum jobs do not offer visa sponsorship).
 * Pass an enhanced background check (DBS).
