Job Description
Van Pool Transportation is dedicated to providing superior special transportation services to our schools, students, and communities. Critical to our success are the performance of our drivers and monitors. This job description summarizes some of the duties and responsibilities expected of our monitors. Additional duties may be assigned as needed.
Essential Job Duties
* Safely assist students, including helping them enter and exit the vehicle, securing them with lap and shoulder belts, and installing car seats and booster seats. Lifting may be required.
* Monitor student behavior, provide guidance, report unsafe or inappropriate behavior, and implement corrective actions as directed.
* Communicate effectively in English with students, parents, teachers, and staff using the two-way radio system.
* Demonstrate physical ability to install car seats and booster seats safely.
* Follow all policies and procedures outlined in the Employee Handbook, training sessions, and newsletters.
* Be available for routes in the morning (5:45 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.) and afternoon (1:00 p.m. to 5:45 p.m.).
* Follow written and verbal instructions from supervisors.
* Willingness to work with school-aged children with special needs.
* Maintain a valid driver's license or ID and pass necessary background and drug screenings.
Physical Requirements
* Perform First Aid and CPR during training and emergencies.
* Safely enter and exit the vehicle routinely.
* Remove snow and ice from the vehicle during winter.
* Complete pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections.
* Assist students on and off the vehicle, including in emergencies, possibly lifting. Position and secure wheelchairs as needed.
