Job Description
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for the electrical design, development, and delivery of switch-mode power supplies used within Industrial, Healthcare, and Technology applications.
Responsibilities
1. The electrical design for all sections of high-performance switch mode power supplies for Industrial, Healthcare, and Technology applications.
2. The development and optimization of performance to meet target specifications within cost and project plan milestone dates.
3. The delivery of high integrity design for mass production, ensuring ease of manufacture, field reliability over the product design lifetime, and ease of customer integration.
4. Accountability for project delivery and mentoring of Level 1 Electrical Power Supply Design Engineers.
Qualifications
5+ years’ experience in AC-DC switch-mode power supply design from conception to production.
Design responsibilities include:
1. Working in an R&D team of electrical, mechanical, manufacturing engineers, and technicians on delivering product design in line with XP Core Values.
2. Providing technical expertise in new basic product design and modification of existing products.
3. Specification and compliance of designs for the product lifecycle.
4. Component part selection considering obsolescence, availability, and cost.
5. Input to continuous improvement of the production process.
6. Ensuring consistency in design reviews, verification, and qualification efforts.
7. Keeping up to date with new technology applicable to our industry and collaborating with other design colleagues.
8. Fostering creativity and innovation in design solutions.
Documentation
1. Reviewing and creating engineering and associated documentation.
2. Ensuring completeness of all documentation to assure smooth transition from product design and testing into manufacturing.
3. Active participation in the delivery of project milestones/deliverables.
4. Reporting on electrical design status on the assigned tasks as required.
5. Providing answers to all queries relating to the design.
6. Liaising with other XP departments to ensure that the required information is available when needed and customer requests are dealt with in a timely manner.
Other duties may be assigned.
Key Qualifications and Skills
1. Bachelor’s degree in Electronic Engineering/Power Electronics or equivalent experience.
2. Proven knowledge of different topologies.
3. Proven knowledge of EMC, thermals, magnetic design, analogue, and some digital design.
