NHS Supply Chain currently has an opportunity for an Accounts Payable Team Leader to join our team during an exciting period of transformation, working to make it easier for the NHS to put patients first.
We are seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Team Leader who will lead a team of three Accounts Payable Associates. The team is responsible for ensuring invoices are processed accurately and in accordance with internal policies, accounting standards, and VAT regulations. The AP Team Leader will support the AP Manager and peers to ensure that the team delivers in all areas and provides relevant reporting to drive business insight and decision-making. This role requires a strong leader to streamline processes, drive continuous improvement, and implement new procedures.

1. Supervise the processing and payment of supplier transactions in accordance with the standards.
2. Continuously review processes and procedures to identify opportunities for control improvements and service simplification.
3. Maximise cash flow and benefits from prompt supplier payments.
4. Ensure controls are in place to maintain the accuracy and completeness of accounting transactions and Accounts Payable sub-ledgers.
5. Provide professional expertise and input into the development of Finance policy across NHS Supply Chain.
6. Supervise the scanning and capture of supplier invoices through the designated third party.
7. Monitor and actively manage supplier debt, challenging performance based on debt age, payment terms, queries, and accounts on-stop.
8. Develop and maintain external stakeholder financial relationships, ensuring effective communication and business results.
9. Develop and maintain cross-functional internal networks for effective collaboration and results.
