About the Role
We are seeking a creative, patient, and passionate Art Teacher to join our dedicated team in a specialist school setting in Chigwell. This role is ideal for someone who is enthusiastic about using art as a tool to engage, inspire, and support children and young people with Special Educational Needs.
You will play a key role in helping pupils express themselves creatively, build confidence, and develop their skills in a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver engaging and differentiated art lessons suited to a range of SEN needs
Support pupils in developing creative, social, and emotional skills through art
Create a positive, nurturing classroom environment where all students feel valued
Adapt teaching methods and resources to meet individual learning needs
Work collaboratively with teaching assistants and support staff
Monitor and track pupil progress, providing feedback where appropriate
Promote positive behaviour and wellbeing in line with school policies
Ensure safeguarding and health & safety procedures are always followed
Requirements
A genuine passion for art and working with children with Special Educational Needs
Previous experience working in an SEN setting (desirable but not essential)
A patient, calm, and flexible approach
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to engage and motivate students of varying abilities
Relevant teaching experience or art-based background (preferred)
Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)
