£34,398 – £52,490 (paid to scale, dependent on experience)
A forward-thinking and well-organised secondary school in the Rickmansworth area is seeking an enthusiastic Food Technology / Food & Nutrition Teacher to join their team on a full-time maternity cover basis from April until December 2026. The school promotes high standards, strong routines, and the development of both academic success and essential life skills.
This role offers an excellent opportunity to join a supportive department and deliver a well-structured curriculum in a well-equipped food technology setting.
The Role
You will support students across KS3 and KS4 by:
Teaching Food Technology through practical and theory-based lessons
Delivering structured, engaging learning with clear expectations
Leading safe, organised, and enjoyable practical cooking sessions
Developing students’ understanding of nutrition, health, and food science
Encouraging independence, teamwork, and creativity
Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver high-quality lessons aligned with curriculum requirements
Assess and track student progress, providing clear and constructive feedback
Maintain high standards of behaviour, organisation, and safety in food rooms
Work collaboratively with departmental staff on planning and resources
Contribute to enrichment activities, clubs, or themed food initiatives
The Ideal Candidate
QTS or equivalent teaching qualification
Experience teaching Food Technology / Food & Nutrition at secondary level
Confident in both classroom and practical lesson management
Organised, proactive, and committed to professional development
Passionate about promoting healthy living and practical life skills
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
