Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Multi‑Disciplined Site Engineer to join a major HS2 infrastructure project based in Wendover. This is a permanent position working within a principal contractor delivery team on a complex, regulated environment.
The successful candidate will support the engineering delivery across multiple work disciplines including earthworks, drainage, structures, utilities, and highways interfaces, ensuring works are delivered safely, to programme, and in full compliance with HS2 standards and specifications.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering & Technical
Set out and check works accurately in accordance with drawings, specifications, and HS2 requirements
Deliver engineering control across earthworks, drainage, structural concrete, utilities, and associated civils
Produce and maintain setting‑out records, as‑built drawings, surveys, and red‑line drawings
Ensure works are constructed in line with Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), quality plans, and design intent
Review drawings, RAMS, and technical information for accuracy and buildability
Assist with resolving technical queries and on‑site engineering issues
Site & Delivery
Support day‑to‑day site operations in conjunction with the Section Engineer / Sub Agent
Coordinate subcontractors and site teams to ensure efficient sequencing of works
Monitor progress against programme and report risks, delays, and constraints
Ensure materials, workmanship, and temporary works comply with project requirements
Health, Safety, Environment & Quality
Promote and maintain the highest standards of HSEQ in line with HS2 and contractor policies
Ensure works are delivered safely, with robust safe systems of work in place
Participate in inspections, audits, and quality assurance processes
Essential Experience & Skills
Proven experience as a Site Engineer on major civils or infrastructure projects
Multi‑disciplinary background covering earthworks, drainage, heavy civils, or structures
Strong setting‑out capability using GPS, Total Station, and traditional surveying methods
Experience working in highly regulated environments (HS2, rail, highways, or similar frameworks)
Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and specifications
Strong communication and coordination skills
Qualifications
HNC / HND or Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
CSCS Card (relevant level)
SMSTS or SSSTS – advantageous
Full UK driving licence
