Job Summary
We are looking for enthusiastic, patient‑focused, hard‑working individuals to join our Radiology team as a Radiology Department Assistant (RDA). The role supports our expansion into a seven‑day service with flexible 8‑6 or 8‑8 shifts, cross‑site coverage at Darent Valley Hospital, Queen Mary’s Sidcup Hospital and the Community Diagnostic Centre, and weekend rota participation. Please note this position will not be sponsored; candidates must have the right to work in the UK independently.
Main Duties
* Flexible, dynamic, patient‑focused work as part of a multi‑professional team.
* Interprofessional communication with Consultant Radiologists, Radiographers and other healthcare workers.
* Staffing across multiple modalities including DR, CT, MRI, ultrasound, breast imaging, nuclear medicine, bone densitometry, interventional and cardiac angiography, and general/fluoroscopic radiography.
* Assisting with IV cannulation and other clinical support tasks.
* Working safely, prioritising workload, and applying radiation‑protection knowledge.
* Providing high‑quality customer care and good interpersonal skills.
Qualifications and Requirements
Essential:
* Polite, pleasant and understanding manner.
* Ability to work well under pressure and adapt to changing needs.
* Willingness to participate in out‑of‑hours work, including evenings and weekends.
* Good standard of education to GCSE or equivalent.
* Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Knowledge of general radiological procedures and radiation‑protection issues.
* Ability to work safely and prioritise workload.
* Perform IV cannulation.
* Ability to work as part of a team with strong customer‑care skills.
* Computer literacy.
Desirable:
* Able to travel across a diverse area efficiently.
* Health‑care related NVQ.
* Experience working in the NHS or with patients.
* Experience dealing with members of the public.
* Previous radiography helper or Health Care Assistant experience.
* Awareness of NHS agenda.
