An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Development Management Team. This role involves working as part of a team of well supported skilled professional planning officers and handling a busy case load of applications. You will deal with all stages of the development management process: giving pre-application advice, making site visits, writing reports, making recommendations, discharging conditions and representing the council in appeals and at committee if appropriate. Ideally, you will have a degree in town planning or a closely related discipline. You will also be an experienced planner with excellent knowledge of UK planning legislation and experience working in a local authority planning department. You will need to be able to work well under pressure and manage your workload to agreed deadlines. Exceptional graduates looking for their first planning role may also be considered.
You will be a strong team player who can contribute positively to the team and be able to demonstrate initiative and good judgement in making recommendations on a wide range of planning matters. You will have excellent communication and negotiation skills and the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines and contribute to a high-quality service to our customers.
Welsh speaking and writing skills are desirable. We will also support new and existing employees who wish to learn Welsh or improve/develop their Welsh language skills.
