Technical Consultant - Structural Heart

At Medtronic you can begin a life-long career of exploration and innovation, while helping champion healthcare access and equity for all. You’ll lead with purpose, breaking down barriers to innovation in a more connected, compassionate world.

Overview

As a Technical Consultant for Structural Heart, you will provide thorough and in-depth technical support to interventional cardiology professionals including physicians, nurses, and other cath lab personnel. You will play a key role in supporting the commercial organisation with extending and developing the accounts and customer product portfolio usage. With a passion for helping patients and a clinical training mindset, you will make a significant difference in the London area. You will spend much of your time at hospitals, supporting transcatheter aortic valve implant (TAVI) procedures. This support includes ‘scrubbing in’ with the clinical team, loading the replacement valve onto a catheter delivery system (under sterile conditions) and then providing clinical case support during the implant. You will be part of a strong technical consultant team that supports each of our regions across the UK and Ireland, with this role linked to the NorthLondon region. This role involves extensive travel to centres in and out of your region every week (80% on territory / 20% off territory) so you will need to accommodate a very flexible work schedule and in possession of a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

* Ensuring best-in-class clinical case support of transcatheter aortic valve implant (TAVI) procedures using the Medtronic CoreValve Evolut system.
* Utilizing 3mensio CT imaging software to support pre-procedural case planning with the implanting team.
* Providing in-depth training and education to healthcare professionals to ensure excellent patient outcomes.
* Presenting the latest clinical data to healthcare professionals to support the local marketing campaign. Organizing technical and scientific presentations and/or training events at internal and external meetings / congresses.
* Supporting the country sales and marketing strategy; working with sales representatives and managers to be the chosen supplier and achieve business plan objectives.
* Supporting all other operating unit activities including product launches, product training, simulator training, operator certification management, valve loader training and certification, inventory / stock management.

Required Knowledge and Experience

* Bachelor’s degree in any lifescience / healthcare, registered nurse, cath lab specialist, or other technical education
* Clinical, operational or interventional / cath lab experience
* Manual dexterity and visual acuity
* Proven ability to operate in a matrix environment
* Ability to work independently on projects/duties as well as contributing to a larger team
* Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills; a strong relationship builder with a passion for being out in the field and supporting healthcare professionals

Previous TAVI / Structural Heart experience is a distinct advantage.
