Overview
The post holder will be required to perform the full range of duties outlined in this Job Description. The principal accountabilities of this post are to plan day‑to‑day tasks, undertake routine typing and audio typing of clinical correspondence, update pathways in line with RTT guidelines, manage Consultant's diaries, prioritise results, organise clinical activity and patient admissions, and liaise with patients, GPs, and other Health Boards/Trusts to arrange ongoing treatment and care.
Responsibilities
 * Plan own day‑to‑day tasks and duties.
 * Undertake routine typing and audio typing of clinical correspondence.
 * Update pathways in line with RTT guidelines.
 * Manage Consultant's diaries.
 * Prioritise results, organise clinical activity and patient admissions.
 * Liaise with patients, GPs, and other Health Boards/Trusts to arrange ongoing treatment and care.
 * Maintain waiting lists in adherence with University Health Board (UHB) policy and guidance.
 * Deal with patients, relatives, carers and external partners on a regular day‑to‑day basis using tact and diplomacy.
 * Provide secretarial office duties such as transcribing medical correspondence, audio typing, mail and filing duties, retrieving patient medical notes, and scheduling theatre cases on the TOMS system.
Qualifications
 * Excellent typing/keyboard, communication, organisational, clerical and IT skills.
 * Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
 * Familiarity with NHS information systems, particularly WPAS (Myrddin) & TOMS, and an understanding of Referral to Treatment principles.
 * Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office packages.
 * Excellent telephone and communication manner.
 * Welsh speaking & listening skills at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2) or above are desirable.

This post is advertised as Welsh Desirable. The candidate does not need to be fluent, but spoken and listening skills at Level 3 or above are considered an advantage when short‑listing and selecting candidates.
