CK Group is recruiting for a QC Scientist on behalf of a medical diagnostic company. This permanent role is based at their site in Sunderland, with Mon-Fri day time working hours.
The Role
To undertake relevant Quality Control laboratory duties in a timely and efficient manner as directed by QC procedures and with reference to the QC Manager.
Responsibilities
1. Perform scientific and associated tasks within the QC department, following QC protocols to ensure product quality.
2. Assist the Electrophoresis Manager in organizing daily work, prioritizing tasks to meet target turnaround times.
3. Develop and maintain knowledge of equipment used within QC, including maintenance and troubleshooting.
4. Perform external quality assessment testing, review data and reports.
5. Apply electrophoresis knowledge to support routine QC work, external quality assurance, and R&D.
6. Follow Health and Safety and COSHH guidelines when handling reagents and chemicals.
7. Identify trends affecting product performance, report findings, and assist with corrective actions.
8. Maintain stock of retained products and oversee calibration of laboratory equipment.
9. Perform other duties as directed by the Managing Director.
Candidate Background
Skills
* BSc in life sciences with 1-2 years laboratory experience
* Good laboratory practice and understanding of electrophoresis
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and statistical software
* Strong communication and organizational skills
* Ability to prioritize and work well within a team
