Anexciting opportunity has arisen for a patient centered individual to join theRadiology Admin CSU for the role of Cancer Pathway Manager to support thedelivery of the Prostate Fast Track Service.
TheCancer Pathway Manager provides a pivotal role in ensuring the timely andefficient coordination of care for patients referred with suspected orconfirmed prostate cancer. Working closely with clinical teams acrossradiology, urology and pathology, administrative staff, and multidisciplinaryteam (MDT) members, the post-holder supports the delivery of national cancertargets, facilitates smooth patient journeys, and ensures robust tracking ofdiagnostics, staging, and treatment planning processes. Specifically, thisrole is integral to the implementation of the RAPID prostate cancer pathwayat LTHT, and the evaluation of AI in supporting this pathway.
Therewill be elements of pathway management and some supervisory duties that wouldmake this a varied role where no day would be the same. There will also bedata collection and analysis with regard to breach dates but full trainingand support will be given. This is a patient-facing role that requiresexcellent communication, strong organisational skills, and a detailedunderstanding of the prostate cancer diagnostic and treatment pathway.

Main duties of the job
Thepost-holder will coordinate, proactively manage and track prostate patientsagainst the National Cancer Waiting Times Standards. They will escalateproblems to Patient Service Coordinators, Business Managers and Clinicians ina timely manner so that remedial action can be taken where necessary toensure the Cancer Waiting Times targets are met.
Thepost-holder will coordinate all aspects of the patient pathway in theirspecialty and be responsible for prioritising work, reviewing work practices.
Thepost holder will work closely with the project team to support theimplementation of the RAPID cancer pathway at LTHT. This will involve patientfacing contact along with data collection.

Job responsibilities
JOBPURPOSE
TheRadiology & MIS Clinical Service Unit (CSU) at LTHT provides a range ofdiagnostic imaging, including fast track imaging for patients who aresuspected of having cancer. This role has been created to support the CSU inits delivery of diagnostics for patients on a prostate cancer pathway,ensuring diagnostic imaging is provided in line with local and nationaltargets. As this is a new role within the Radiology CSU, the post holder willneed to be flexible to support the needs of CSU as it evolves over time. TheCancer Pathway Manager will provide comprehensive support to the RadiologyCSU Management Team through the co-ordination and management of patients on acancer pathway that require diagnostic imaging.
Thepost-holder act as a single point of contact for the CSU, and as a liaisonpoint between other CSUs, Multi-disciplinary Teams (MDTs), and the CorporateCancer Team.
1.Pathway Coordination
Act as the key contact for patientsundergoing investigation or treatment for prostate cancer.
Coordinate appointments,diagnostics (e.g. MRI, CT scan, biopsy), and referrals to ensure pathwaymilestones are met within nationally mandated timescales (e.g. 28-daydiagnosis, 62-day treatment target).
Track and monitor patients throughthe prostate cancer pathway using relevant IT systems and databases.
2.MDT Coordination
Support the weekly urology/prostateMDT by ensuring seamless patient flow through the pathway, chasingoutstanding diagnostics, and ensuring accurate data entry.
Ensure actions from MDT meetingsare completed and communicated to the relevant professionals in a timelymanner.
3.Communication and Liaison
Liaise effectively with urologists,radiologists, specialist nurses, administrative teams and patients to providea seamless service
Provide empathetic support topatients and families, ensuring they are well-informed and signposted toappropriate services as needed.
4.Data Management and Reporting
Maintain accurate and timelyrecords on cancer tracking systems.
Assist in the collection andreporting of data for audit, performance monitoring, and cancer performancereturns.
Support the validation of waitingtime breaches and help identify bottlenecks in the pathway.
5.Service Improvement
Identify inefficiencies andescalate issues to senior colleagues to support ongoing pathway optimisation.
Contribute to quality improvementinitiatives and service evaluations related to the prostate cancer pathway.
Work seamlessly as part of theproject implementation team on the RAPID prostate cancer pathway.
